5 Tips to Dive Into Social Welfare Niche

Helping others not only makes your life better but also pays you in the hereafter, if any. Did you know that helping others and spreading happiness among people stimulates the secretion of serotonin, which is also known as the happiness hormone? All your worries can go away, and it can also fix depression and anxiety.

There is nothing better than making social welfare your mainstream career. Here are a few tips to get started in such a field.

1. Get Special Training

First, you will need to get trained in special education or any other area that will deem you a suitable fit to work with students and children with special needs. You can also work at childcare centres afterwards. You might need to do child care business management training to get a higher and managerial position at such centers.  If your area of interest is physiotherapy or elderly care, try getting a certification in your preferred field to have a strong background for the job.

2. Join a Disability Care Center

Next, you will need to join the relevant centers or institutions to get experience in your desired field. If you want to help disabled people in the long run, try getting a job in any disability center. Know their protocols, learn the basics, and prepare yourself accordingly. You might also need to train yourself to provide disability support for admitted patients. There are different institutes and professionals that provide hands-on training in this niche.

3. Work as a Volunteer

Moving ahead, you will need to make a list of your dream NGOs and start applying as a volunteer. And don’t forget to mention your past relevant training and jobs when applying. The proper background and relevant experience will make your application stand out among the thousands of others. After you join as a volunteer, closely notice and observe their work culture, routine, preferences, style of work, and other standard protocols; make sure to groom yourself in accordance with your work environment.

4. Apply for a Paid Position

After working as a volunteer for quite some time, you can apply for a paid position in that NGO. By this time, you should have enough connections and networking to have your application shortlisted and get a direct interview call. The interview will sometimes not even be needed as the relevant bodies will already know your dedication towards work and your skillset. This will solely depend on your performance during the volunteers. If you have successfully impressed your seniors during that tenure, you will surely get this job.

5. Have a Clear Vision

Lastly, after getting the job, never forget the reason you joined this niche and your vision. Keep reminding yourself of your goals and intentions. It is very easy to get carried away with workplace politics. Make sure you safeguard yourself from all such politics and unnecessary rat races. Keep helping people with your time, skills, and money, and enjoy a satisfied and joyous life full of contentment. Stay humble and try not to run after money after joining the corporate world.
